For years, Leadercast has brought people together and equipped them to become better leaders, managers, community members and employees.

Kandice Harshaw, vice president of human resources for USA Truck, said Leadercast has always inspired the company’s team members to think outside of the box.

“During the session they can expect to get re-energized and inspired while developing both professionally and personally,” Harshaw said. “It has consistently allowed us the opportunity to network and build valuable relationships within our leadership community. Every year we look forward to not only being a sponsor but an active participant in the program.”

Leadercast, the world’s largest one-day leadership conference, will be broadcast live from Atlanta and simulcast to hundreds of locations around the world, including Van Buren, on May 5.

This year marks the 17th year of the annual leadership conference and seventh year that The Destiny Group, along with co-host Van Buren Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the Leadercast Van Buren.

It will again be held at the Van Buren Fine Arts Center on the Van Buren High School campus, according to Debbie Foliart of The Destiny Group.

Steve Dufresne, director of Van Buren Municipal Utilities, said Leadercast encourages leadership.

“Having the local Leadercast event allows staff members an opportunity, that they normally would not have, to network with others in a group of leaders environment,” Dufresne said. “Bringing staff members to Leadercast helps them to realize that they are part of a team and that you do not have to be in management to be a leader.”

He said Leadercast attendance also helps team members and management to remember that sometimes difficult and unpopular decisions made in leadership roles are for the progress of the team.

The theme of this year’s Leadercast conference is, “Powered by Purpose.”

“Purpose is what defines us, drives us, and empowers us,” Foliart said. “It is the glue for an organization and the fuel for an individual. Today’s organization can’t rely on old practices. A new organization is emerging and at the center of its driving force is the igniting power of purpose.”
