Rye Hill Baptist hosting events

Rye Hill Baptist Church Community Closet and Community Pantry will be open from 9-11 a.m. today at the church, 11512 Old U.S. 71 in Fort Smith. The event is free for local families to come and shop a vast array of clothing, shoes and accessories at no cost. Sizes include infants, toddlers, children, teens, women and men.

Also, the Gospel-Fest Quartet will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. There is no admission charge.

Central Presbyterian welcomes Kurtz

Central Presbyterian Church, 2901 Rogers Ave., will welcome the Rev. Steven Kurtz as its new pastor during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. An after-worship fellowship with lunch follows the service each week.

St. James welcomes Davis

St. James Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the installation of its new pastor, Paul E. Davis, at 10 a.m. today at the church, 4916 High St. The installation service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Additionally, Pastor Thaddeus K. Shore of North Carolina will speak during the 10:45 a.m. service Sunday, and Curtiss P. Smith, pastor of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, will speak at the 3 p.m. service Sunday.

Evangel Temple plans events

Evangelist Jeremy Howell will speak during the worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 1110 S. 12th St.

Evangel Temple also will host its 26th annual grocery giveaway beginning at 10 a.m. March 18 at the church. Four hundred sacks of groceries will be given away to anyone in need. There will be no paperwork, income requirements or identification. The event is made possible by donations from local businesses and Evangel temple members.
