Cleaning supplies drive slated

A cleaning supply drive for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Port Arkansas, Texas, will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at World Gym Fayetteville, 2035 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville. Cleaning supplies needed include heavy-duty trash bags/contractor bags, bleach cleaning products, mildew and stain removal/prevention cleaning products, sandpaper, cleanup rags, Windex, cleaning gloves, work gloves, disinfectant wipes, face masks, rakes, brooms and paper towels. Additional drop-off sites will be located at World's Gym Springdale, 866 S. 48th St. in Springdale; IntaJuice, 1772 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville; and The Woods at Johnson Mill Apts., 3906 Celeste Drive in Springdale.

Library to host film series

The Miller Branch of the Fort Smith Public Library will be holding a Classic Film Festival at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays during the month of October at 8701 S. 28th St. The films and dates are Brewster’s Millions (NR), Tuesday; Strangers on a Train (PG), Oct. 10; Casablanca (NR), Oct. 17; High Noon (NR), Oct. 24; and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (NR), Oct. 31. Light refreshments will be available.

Lupus group set to meet

The Lupus I Care group will hold its regular monthly meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Ave. Charlotte Tidwell will be the guest speaker this month.

Photographer slated to speak

"Impressionism through Photography" with Eli Vega will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Ave. Vega, author of "Right Brain Photography," will talk about creating impressionism with a camera at this free evening program for photographers of all skill levels, and lovers of photography and art. He will discuss the history of impressionism, characteristics of art style and how he creates his impressionistic photo images.

Charity Classic to benefit Kistler Center

The second annual Knights of Columbus, Council 996, Charity Classic Golf Tournament will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Fianna Hills Country Club, No. 1 Essex Place. Lunch will be served at noon. Teams of four can play for $400. Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Gregory Kistler Treatment Center in Fort Smith.
