For the eighth year in a row, Van Buren will celebrate its military veterans with a downtown parade, slated for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, according to parade organizer Les Thomas Jr.
Veterans will be escorted down the street to Memorial Park before the parade procession begins. Last year, they were escorted by members of the Arkansas State Police and the American Legion Color Guard.
The parade traditionally starts at the Crawford County Courthouse.
Van Buren High School will also have a Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Nov. 11 at Clair Bates Arena. Junior ROTC will host the event, according to Army instructor Larry Moore, who said the ceremony should last an hour at most.
"Any veteran that wants to come is welcome," Moore said. "They'll be honored."
Van Buren's NJROTC is headed by Maj. Mike Akins.
