Hunter takes top spot in Grand National

Brandon Hunter finally reached the top spot of the Grand National as the one of the biggest gains this past week at Crawford County Speedway.

Hunter trailed Joey Dunn three weeks ago by 36 points and had managed to close the gap and take a 12-point lead in the standings.

The rest of the Grand National standings remain relatively unchanged, but Chuck Smith leaped two spots to reach the Top 10 at ninth.

The racetrack will also have special races on July 5 starting at 6 p.m. with its annual Firecracker 30, fireworks show and a special race of 30 to 40 Elite Modifieds running 1,000cc engines. CCS will also have double points on July 5 as well as additional money paying out.

James Parker became the new No. 2 in the Mini Stock after placing third in last week's race. Teddy Parker still holds the No. 1 spot with a lead of 49 points.

Edward Boyster moved up two spots into the Mini Stock Top 5, but Charles J. Jones trails in sixth by just three points.

Jesse Garner moved within striking distance of Kaelin Richesin's lead in the Front Wheel Drive last week. However, Garner was unable to make any gains as Richesin won the race to increase the gap by just one point.

Chris Ross jumped up two spots to be the new No. 3 in the Modified class. James Drummond and Hunter still hold the top two spots.

Brody Young passed Zach Dean in the Pure Stock class for the No. 4 spot, while the rest of the top three remained unchanged.

Parker Dunn, Lee Selman and Logan Rose each rose one place in the Young Guns to comprise a new Top 5.
