Bond was set at $10,000 on Monday for a Little Rock man who drove to Crawford County seeking to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Circuit Judge Gary R. Cottrell ruled there was enough evidence to hold Ellis Trice, 52, who was arrested July 2 for Internet stalking of a child. Cottrell set a July 16 arraignment date for Trice, who said he had planned to hire a Little Rock attorney to represent him.
Trice was arrested after Detective Donald Eversole posed as a 14-year-old girl chatting on the Internet. Trice allegedly said he wanted to have sex with the girl and arranged a meeting, according to Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Robert Presley.
As Trice walked to the door of a residence at a residence he was given, he was arrested, Presley said.
Also on Monday, David Alverson, 19, Juan Castillo, 20, and Datron Ward, 19, all of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to robbery, battery in the third degree and theft of property. Alverson also is accused of obstructing govermental operations.
Cottrell appointed the public defender's office to represent the three and set theirs bond at $3,500 each. They also are to have no contact with the alleged victims in the case.
According to Presley, Alverson, Castillo and Ward are accused of robbing and beating two other men in Mulberry on Sunday.
Other pleas heard Monday by Cottrell were:
Darrell Davis, 43, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received on Feb. 14 for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and failure to appear, alleging he failed to report to adult probation on Feb. 26 for intake.
Patrick Knauls, 33, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received on May 8, 2006, for fleeing and criminal mischief, alleging he owes $1,353.10 restitution.
Cecil Nichols, 39, of Muldrow pleaded not guilty to theft by receiving. Nichols was arrested Sunday by Arkansas State Police Sgt. Andy Jones in connection with a stolen trailer.
Donna Sue Sampley, 45, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an instrument of crime, possession of unlabeled drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon, driving while intoxicated on drugs, driving left of center and furnishing prohibited articles in a security facility. Sampley was arrested July 4 on McClure Road after driving left of the center line. When booked into the detention center, jailers found marijuana in her underwear, according to arrest reports.
Gary Don Yarbrough, 48, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to two counts of delivery of roxycodone, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and delivery of a controlled substance. Yarbrough allegedly sold roxycodone to a confidential informant for Van Buren police in April 4. He was arrested July 2 on a warrant.
Jamie Mitchell, 28, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to residential burglary and theft of property. Mitchell is accused of breaking into a house on Locust Mountain Road on Sept. 10, 2007.
